Dude she is not worse than Karla come on. Karla raped and murdered her own sister. We know how heavily people were at least brainwashed in NXIVM. Karla needed little to no convincing. The prosecution just fucked up because she cut her immunity deal before the defense team found the tapes showing how complicit she was. Not even complicit! How much she enjoyed it!

Karla and Bernardo filmed a lot of their rapes and murders for their own enjoyment to go back and watch. Cops claimed they scoured the house but somehow didn’t find those in a cookie jar (maybe if it had been a timbits jar 🙄). The defense team later found them after Karla made her deal and turned them over to the prosecution because it’s illegal to withhold evidence and no attorney was gonna risk their neck for Paul Bernardo.

Also, the tapes were so heinous they thought the court would bulk and not want to show them in court. I feel so bad for that poor jury. Luckily the tapes have never leaked.

I’m not going to get into comparing criminals but I don’t want people to downplay what Mack did either.

She made people slaves. She branded women. She facilitated rape. She created an environment where women would starve themselves to the point of losing their hair. She wasn’t just part of a ~sex cult of members who liked to fuck each other. She created a manipulation and rape environment.

Also her part in the recruitment efforts into it as well. :( Which, for me is another one of the most infuriating/heartbreaking parts of it because she was luring these women in, falsely luring them into thinking they were going to be a part of something they weren't.

You’re right but I will say she also wasn’t immune to that treatment. She too was starved and sleep deprived and was Keith’s direct slave. You can see how much she literally shrank after being in the cult a few years. There were other bad actors in that cult for sure but 99% of them were manipulated by Keith in some way.

I do think she got off too lightly but she was still victimized even if she’s not a perfect victim.

She wasn’t a founding member. She got brought in way later. Lauren Salzman is the one who groomed her and brought her in. Lauren’s mom Nancy was however a founding member. This cult was going on a long ass time before all this shit came out. Nancy and Keith started NXIVM in the 90s.

Mack and Lauren did start the “sisterhood” thing that turned into slaves and branding but Mack had been groomed by Lauren and Keith for years by then. I’m not saying she’s totally innocent but she is also a victim.

Keith also did that clever thing where he asked them to start the sisterhood nonsense but then fed back to them that it was solely their idea.

Most abusers have a history of being abused or groomed, there's almost no one who thinks being a victim and an abuser are mutually exclusive. is lauren also not to blame for grooming allison, since her mom was a founding member and obviously groomed her? where does the buck stop

For me the buck stops at Keith but I agree being abused isn’t an excuse to abuse someone. I can still feel empathy for people who are victims while not believing they are innocent and shouldn’t face consequences. I do think Lauren is a victim too because Keith started grooming her as a child.

I genuinely think that there are people who get manipulated into doing things they otherwise wouldn’t have done. While I find that terrible it doesn’t mean I think there should be no consequences.

There’s also of course the fact that privileged people will always get the better deal which sucks.

Ultimately I’m just glad Keith is gonna die in prison.
