Absolutely. It's easily Cameron Crowes best movie and is the most John Hughes-esque movie that doesn't feel like a rip off.

Confession, I’ve never actually seen all of Say Anything. I should have included a goofy movie but I wanted to stick with live action.

That's fair, though the opening scene should have been an honorable mention for sure :P

Say Anything the first half would absolutely fit the vibe though not as much the second half. It is one of those movies worth watching though, if for no other reason than to get all the references. And get them right - the boombox move doesn't even work on the girl lol.
