idgi, how is this bad when it took more than aquaman's preview and that movie was a huge success?

aquaman was HUGE overseas, the early numbers for this one don't look good anywhere rn

I see your point, but That was certainly a different time and different circumstances. Even if most dceu movies never hit 1b status, after almost 10 years they probably expect a bit more.

I think this will be like Fast X and TLM - in the weird realm of not a flop but not a runaway success.

Aquaman had a slow start and blew up, especially overseas. This one has been promoted to hell and back everywhere and really needed to be strong out of the gate. Plus, comic book movies tend to drop off in the second week much more than they did in the time Aquaman came out.

Aquaman was also released in late Dec. Which can still make lots of $$ but isnt going to give you summer blockbuster release numbers for the weekend.

Also Aquaman had legs. I worked at a theater in Hawaii when it came out and we were still pushing it; and selling well, 3-4 months out

Covid. Which is to say movies just don’t linger in theaters like they used to, with a few very rare exceptions. Plus Aquaman has certain levels of appeal (Hot dude, great word of mouth, brought out minority audiences in large numbers, came out before people were disillusioned by DC) that Flash lacks.

I’d be shocked if Flash does anything but drop off hard from here.

flash exceeded aquaman's previews which were pre covid so if we're going by that, flash is tracking to be a success. all this talk about how it's going to drop off hard from here is purely speculative. we don't know how audience is going to react to this particular film in the long run. remains to be seen...i highly doubt that if it does flop, reason won't be ezra's controversies. general movie going public just doesn't care enough about that.
