Jun 11, 2023 22:43

Because E3 is sadly no longer a thing, Microsoft/Xbox showcased many of its new upcoming titles at the Summer Games Fest 2023 which is definitely not E3 but also kind of is. Anyway, here are the trailers for some long-awaited games that will be coming out in the next year or maybe two or hell maybe three because screw us for getting our hopes up. ( Read more... )

OP, there's a computer / video games tag!

Anyways I thought XBox had a pretty strong showcase. From all the games shown during SGF, the ones I'm most excited for are Baldur's Gate 3, Starfield, FABLE!!!, Senua 2. Outside of the showcase, I'm so excited for Hades 2 and Dragon Age 4 (which is SUPPOSEDLY coming out in 2024 but we'll see).

The way Bioware has starved us of information about Dragon Age is egregious, I can't wait. Outside of the showcase I'm really looking forward to Homeworld 3 and Star Trek Infinite - I loved the 90s iterations as a kid. It feels like there's a lot to look forward to, assuming things aren't delayed forever

South of Midnight looks great!
And I was completely blindsided by that Yakuza 8 teaser since the RGG Summit is coming up on the 15th and I didn't think they'd show anything after that little trailer of LAD Gaiden we got during the Summer Gamefest Stream. As a huge fan of the Yakuza franchise I can't wait for these games.

Hellblade 2 looks amazing visually but I still need to play the first part.

I'll check out the Persona 3 remake, can't say I care about yet another P5 spin-off though. I wish they'd give us P6 already.

I need to hop on the Yakuza train already, it’s such a huge series it’s so daunting to get started!

It’s been a while since I’ve played it but the first Hellblade was worth it just to look at it, just gorgeously done and the actress playing Senua killed it they really did her credit with the realism - you can see all the intricacies of her expressions.

That's totally understandable, the franchise has a lot of entries now. For a starting point I'd recommend playing Yakuza 0 first. It's an incredible game, with a great story and lots of people started out with it. It's an 80ies prequel for the main character of the Series, Kazuma Kiryu and another recurring character Goro Majima. So you get to switch between the two characters throughout the game, the mini games and substories are fun(and great comedic relief for when the main story gets too bleak) and the fighting styles have a lot of variety and are pretty easy to pick up. I bought the game a few years ago for about 5€ and I got hooked immediately. I'd say it's also possible to jump into the series with Yakuza 7 though, as you don't need to know any of the other games or previous main characters (even though some of them have cameos in the game) to get into it because it's got an entirely new cast of characters. It is currently the only game that has turn based combat, if you have any preferences when it comes to beat em ups vs ( ... )
