I mean obviously there is a convo to be had about how society and Hollywood treat perpetually single and childless women, but was that really what hurt Tara’s career…?

I was thinking the same thing. What about people like Jennifer Aniston? She is very successful and doesn't have kids. She has been married though so idk.

Drew Barrymore is a former party girl who got her rep back before having kids, and whose first two marriages actually made her look even more flighty. She appears to have put more work into improving her rep than Reid. She's also talked about how much harder it is for women to do this than men.

There's a lot of reasons why Tara's career wouldn't have taken off, but I wouldn't be surprised if she does get feedback that casting directors have her boxed into this image from the past.

I would think having kids would hurt your career instead of the other way around. I can't imagine there are many acting roles that are 9 to 5 or part-time. I know a lot of well-paid actors have nannies and/or childcare but upcoming or unknown actors wouldn't.
As someone who's childless, I agree that society can be really weird about people who don't have kids. But society is really weird towards mothers as well.
