…is that really why though?

I mean obviously there is a convo to be had about how society and Hollywood treat perpetually single and childless women, but was that really what hurt Tara’s career…?

I was thinking the same thing. What about people like Jennifer Aniston? She is very successful and doesn't have kids. She has been married though so idk.

Patricia Clarkson has never been married and has no children and has been open about her reasons why and her career seems decent enough.

I can list so many actresses who never married or had kids (Dana Delaney, Heather Graham, etc.) or didn't get married until they were over-40 (Sandra Bullock, Helen Mirren, etc.) that have zero problem getting work.

That's the point; her party girl rep damaged her career, not her never getting married.

I get what you're saying (though you use big words that make my head hurt), but I as I mentioned elsewhere, she could have done stuff besides marriage to salvage her reputation. I suggested charity work, but I always thought she should have done comedic roles that poke fun at her party girl persona. I know Reid isn't popular on here, but I like her and think she has genuine comic chops

Drew Barrymore is a former party girl who got her rep back before having kids, and whose first two marriages actually made her look even more flighty. She appears to have put more work into improving her rep than Reid. She's also talked about how much harder it is for women to do this than men.

Jennifer wasn't a party girl, though.

There's a lot of reasons why Tara's career wouldn't have taken off, but I wouldn't be surprised if she does get feedback that casting directors have her boxed into this image from the past.

Agreed, I think it's an issue, but I don't think it's her issue.

I would think having kids would hurt your career instead of the other way around. I can't imagine there are many acting roles that are 9 to 5 or part-time. I know a lot of well-paid actors have nannies and/or childcare but upcoming or unknown actors wouldn't.

As someone who's childless, I agree that society can be really weird about people who don't have kids. But society is really weird towards mothers as well.

Yup. Women/fems cannot win in this society. We are damned no matter what.
