Peter Pan & Wendy officially streaming on Disney+

Peter & Wendy is a live-action remake of Peter Pan that looks beautiful, but suffers from a humorless and overly serious take on what should be a vivacious kid’s movie.

who's the hook? i find that the hook can really make or break a live action adaptation, especially if he also plays mr darling

The cartoon version is dull and boring too, so the problem is probably the source material.

honestly, my fav Pan is the 2003 version with Jason Issacs. didn't even realize he played both characters til near the end of the movie but i think he really made it Not Pure Trash

...apparently i have a lot of feelings about Peter Pan movies

, but suffers from a humorless and overly serious take

has there ever been a live action Peter Pan movie after 2015 that has had humor an isn't overly serious? I feel like that's all these people know how to make.

I didn't know this was coming out. I'm going to add it to my watch list, maybe I'll watch it tomorrow or next week.

PETER PAN & WENDY attempts to flesh out Captain Hook’s motivations & backstory. This could be interesting if it weren’t such a silly concept as Captain Hook, quite literally, is a grown man who has perpetual beef with a child

I liked that revelation. Is it any worse than a grown man obsessed with killing a child just because?

...said child literally dismembered him. I'd have beef with a kid too if they did that to me.

Majority of the changes i liked and felt natural.

Getting rid of the mermaids....shame.

Tinkerbell being stripped of most of her attitude that's made her as iconic as she is....big shame.

Neverland should've felt more magical.

This ended up being 30 mins longer than the animated tale but somehow seems less magical and GRAND which is what can certainly happen when you try to give the big 3 more character.

What they do with Tiger Lily is great but they literally erased all of her people as if we couldn't have both.

7.5/10

ugh I don't even want to watch if the mermaids aren't there

yeah i watched it last night and pretty much second all of this. needed more wonder and tinkerbell's character got watered down. tiger lily's new role was good (i mean there was nowhere to go but up there tbf) and i liked that most of her dialogue was in cree, but i wish we'd seen more of her home. those are my biggest complaints though really. the rest i liked overall.

MTE Tinkerbell was reduced to fairy dust provider instead of being a pivotal character to the story.
