My most bonkers friend break up was when I got married in FL & my childhood best friend came. It was a super casual wedding but still had normal stuff like pictures right after the ceremony.

She came up to me right after that to let me know she was leaving because I wasn’t spending any time with her. Like…what?? I texted her later and she doubled down on that, how she didn’t come all that way to be ignored. Never talked again lmao

Ones like that always make you feel glad you didn’t waste anymore time on them but the ones that Melanie us talking about? Those definitely hurt

Oh my god, in belated honor of Buzzfeed News' demise, this reminds me so much of that personal essay where some woman fell apart because her best friend spent a year desperately trying to get pregnant and finally had a baby, which she interpreted as... getting in the way of their friendship? Yeah I get that getting attention/real interaction is a central part of interaction, especially when there's distances to be crossed,

That's so ridiculous. No matter how small, I never expect to see the bride and groom much at a wedding. They are literally in a room with a bunch of people they need to speak to.

Yeah, weddings are the absolute worst if you actually want to spend time with the bride/groom. We only had a small wedding with mostly family and a few close friends and I could barely have a talk with anyone.

(Weddings are fun though when you're a guest and you have other guests you like to hang out with.)

Yeah I think her real issue was she didn’t think we’d have other friends there and got jealous? She had also gotten married in FL years before and I was the only friend there so obviously it was different vibe

When my good friend got married, she apologised to me during the reception that she hadn't spoken to me and I was like "??? In what world are you apologising to me? Go make the rounds to your fam and friends!" I never expected to have two minutes alone with her and wasn't pressed by it since I text her and see her all the time. (Although, I do wish we got a picture, but whatever!)
