I remember reading are you there god as a 6th grader and the scene where she’s putting a belt on for her pad and being like what the fuck lmao

Have they updated that book for more modern period products?

Nope! Google “sanitary pad belt” and you can see what it looked like, lol

No, those came later. I want to say early 80s? No wings yet but the smaller adhesive pads were a gamechanger for little me.

Yeah I stated my period ~early 80s and the belts were a thing of the past. "Wings" came around in the 90s maybe? I am just so happy to be on the menopause road right now 🙌

Early 70s.

I asked my mum about the belts and even she wasn’t sure. We had to ask my grandma.

The belts were during that time; the adhesive pads came out early 80s. I remember it well because I was like "Thank goodness I don't have to wear this belted diaper anymore" lol.

My mum never used the belts and she was born in 1960. Got her period at 13.

Now I'm curious, what did she use? Because I got my period late 70s when I was 9 (words cannot express how much that sucked) and we didn't switch over to the adhesives until the early 80s. Tampons on the other hand have been around for a long ass time; is it possible she was using those instead?
