Eh. The first is somehow both iconic and overrated.

It unfortunately coincided with an audience that both knew how to make and then use reaction gifs so we've been overwhelmed with scenes/quotes from it for so long. It's a very of its time movie and the cracks really start showing with so much repeated exposure.

That said, it's still a hugely bankable property and it's straight up misogyny that they lowballed the still very well known actresses for this. I'm glad they walked away. Just do a reunion skit/photo sesh with a Q&A, this isn't a movie that needs a follow up.

You're right about it being misogyny. I hadn't really thought about it that way, so thank you for mentioning it! I agree about them just doing a skit or something along those lines.

Oh yeah, that was more a response to the general happening than your comment, which was very accurate :)

Something short form would definitely serve them well - just enough for nostalgia but not so much we remember what was wrong with the original movie/Tina Fey's writing. Maybe for like a charity event or something? If they're going to make money though they need to pay their actresses what they're worth.

the only thing overrated about that film is lindsay lohan, whos character had no iconic lines and couldve been played by anyone and she still somehow ruings the whole thing by being the only dud actress in the whole production, but the rest was fire on every level.

Lbr though it's Lindsay's movie and it would've tanked if wasn't for her presence and star power at the time. Even its resurgence in popularity early on during the tumblr era was due to people's fascination over her personal life.
