Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Lacey Chabert, and Amanda Seyfried of the original Mean Girls have shown interest in returning for a sequel, but it may not happen. A source close to production claims negotiations with the four actresses has stalled due to "disrespectful" money offer.

February 24, 2023 “Paramount Pictures doesn’t want to pay the girls what they are worth,” they said. “All four girls were willing to come back, but Paramount has not been respectful of what they are worth.”
Tina Fey, who wrote the adaptation of Mean Girls, is also in talks to reprise her role and was allegedly offered a seven-figure deal for her role as actress, writer and producer. The other cast were said to be offered a fraction of Fey's salary.
Fey is also
reportedly attached to a big screen musical adaptation of Mean Girls, alongside Tim Meadows.
Mean Girls was released in 2004 and has since become a cult classic.
