the baftas going crazy over a WW1 movie honestly tracks, and the acting wins are pretty ok in a vacuum, but lawd the optics here are bad

I mean the BAFTAs have NEVER nominated Denzel Washington but he has 2 Academy Awards on 9 noms.

So I don't really ever put much stock in them - they are focused so narrowly it's not really worthwhile.

Or Charlotte Wells (I actually love this one) and Emma Mackey winning?

And All Quiet on the Western Front, seriously?! Do we not have enough war irl already? Do they have only male voters?

And nope, nope hard no to Austin Buttplug and Cate Blanchett, lover of pedos and overly ambitious with zero charisma, who gives cringe speeches. No.

I'm surprised at some of the Baftas winners!! But not really cause Baftas like deviating but still!

Austin winning Best Actor!! I thought it was gonna be Colin Farrell or surprise win by Paul Mescal!!

Barry wins over Ke in BSA!! :O! I think thats Ke first lost of the season! But I think he's still the lock!

Kerry winning BSA is not totally shocking and am happy for her! I've been rooting for her or Stephanie for the win! Angela I have been wondering if the Marvel/Superhero aspect will be a hinderance for her? I also heard she's not in it that much....so I wonder if the awards are looking at that.

I really like Angela, but I have to admit I found her acting in WF a bit cringey.

I haven't seen it yet but I was loving that "HAVE I NOT GIVEN EVERYTHING!!" part in the trailer!! Even then I was like "OSCAR-NOMINEE!!" even though I didn't think it would happen BUT HERE WE ARE!!

I won't be mad if she wins but I keep wondering cause they all see the mcu as the big bad boogeyman when it's outside the the tech awards.

I loved that part in the trailer as well, especially with the music, but it seemed just a bit too much in the scene and there then were other scenes where I felt a bit of second-hand embarrassment tbh. (She had some really good quiet emotional moments too, but I just feel it was too uneven overall)

and yeah, Butler is gonna win that oscar, Colin not being able to win here says it all

I love Colin and haven’t been able to see Banshees yet, but I would be Ok with Austin winning. (I really liked him in Elvis)
Even though he’s older, I think Colin will have more chances in future than Austin
