Clearly that person is not well, but also that’s so damn scary for Keanu and his gf. I wish something more can be done about this than just a restraining order. He needs help.

The same thing happened with Ryan Gosling- he had to get a protective order for himself, his wife, their daughter and I think his sister because the stalker had found their home and was leaving 'gifts.'

Like, fame ain't worth that.

I'd rather feel safe in my own home regardless

I'd rather be poor and unbothered.

By stalkers?

Everybody has problems, but there's more of a risk from stalkers when you're rich, and that's what this post refers to.

(not to say that poor people can't also be stalked, of course... but I'm lucky enough to have never yet been stalked in my life, and part of that is because I'm poor)

I think Jennifer Garner had a stalker who showed up at their daughter's school.

I can't help but think of Rebecca Schaffer and Christina Grimmie.

Just terrible. 😢

Rebecca’s murder is still shocking to me. That there was once a world where you could just walk up to the DMV, give and name, and they’d give you their address.

Why on earth did it take a fucking murder for us to realize that was a safety issue?

in some countries you can just google someone's name and you get their address, their phone number, date of birth etc

You can do that in most countries, I feel. It may not be the most accurate information out there because it’s created based on whatever info you released to the public (knowingly or not), but it’s there.

I tried to wipe all my info from the internet a few years ago when I had this creepy republican threaten me (we were both commenting on a friend’s post about Trump and he got so violent at my answer), but it’s so damn hard. Deed records are public in the US, so you can easily find where most (some hide through trusts) people live. I hate it.

I remember phonebooks. I wonder if social media has increased the number of stalkers since people feel like they know someone just because they follow them online.
