Yes both things can be true but they're also two completely different issues. He doesn't get any sympathy points from me because no matter how much abuse he suffered in the hands of the church, it does not lessen any of the damage or trauma his victims have suffered directly from him. He doesn't get to work out his demons by exercising them on other people. Yes, he should absolutely seek therapy but he it's absolutely grotesque of him to think he deserves any type of shot or platform in Hollywood again, especially when POCs have been pushed put for much less.
But lbr, he'll be back on screen in no time because while Hollywood has never-ending revolving doors of disposable actresses, the spot for white male actors are limited and gatekept; once you're in, you're in and protected forever which is probably why the Millennial/Gen-Z version of Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise don't exist, at least not until Pitt or Cruise are out for good. I'm honestly curious who will give him that career revival boost since Hollywood has been trying to make him leading man material for years to no avail; maybe someone will think his cannibalism will give him some edge since from the look of things, he's likely one 50 Shades-esque franchise away from wiping his slate clean.
This is why things can be true simultaneously. I don't have to be neutral to someone being harmed by clergy in order to believe the person deserves just punishment for his horrific behavior. I don't have to think he deserves no punishment because he endured horrible abuse.
Also, while he is unlikely to see my thoughts, other victims/survivors of clergy abuse and/or child abuse may and I'll never downplay my hatred of what happened to them, regardless of what monster behavior this human exhibited later.
As for the rest, I want to argue with you and for you to be wrong so so so much... but we both know how this goes. Sigh.
