"I'm here to own my mistakes"

* Hammer speaks out for the first time since since being accused of sexual abuse 2 years ago.

* Denies any criminal wrongdoing but acknowledges that he was emotionally abusive towards his former partners.

* Says that he was sexually abused at 13 by a youth pastor for nearly a year & that the abuse "set a dangerous precedent in my life" and led him to become interested in BDSM.

"What that did for me was it introduced sexuality into my life in a way that it was completely out of my control," he said. "I was powerless in the situation. I had no agency in the situation. My interests then went to: I want to have control in the situation, sexually."

* After the abuse accusations, he attempted suicide while quarantining in the Cayman Islands in February 2021.

"I just walked out into the ocean and swam out as far as I could and hoped that either I drowned, or was hit by a boat, or eaten by a shark," Hammer said. "Then I realized that my kids were still on shore, and that I couldn't do that to my kids."

* Effie Angelova claims that Hammer "mentally, emotionally, and sexually" abused her over the course of their 4-year relationship, and that in 2017 he "violently raped [her] for over four hours."

* Hammer claims that the rape was a "consensual non-consent scene" that was planned by Angelova over Facebook Messanger, and he is trying to get Meta to release the now-deleted messages to clear himself.
