Has Hollywood Turned Its Back on Angelina Jolie?

"It seems that Hollywood still deals with allegations in the only way it knows how, closing rank and leaving the woman to fend for herself, which - thankfully - Jolie is more than capable of doing." #IStandWithAngelinaJolie #IStandWithAmberHeard

Claiming Quinta is a 'paid bootlicker' is gross though. She explained that she didn't know and while she's successfully at the moment, she's still a newcomer (and a black woman) and doesn't have significant power in Hollywood. Focus the ire on Pitt and the big hitters who support and enable him.

The way people are honing in on Quinta vs all the other sounds about yt.

Like no one else who praised him is getting the ire she is.

Honestly, out of all the people to pile on, people choose Quinta? It checks but still, so disappointing. She was surprised to see him during her speech, that was fuckin' it. Not like she was Margot, actually choosing to work with him, sit next to him, and moon over him.

quinta brought it onto herself tweeting a lukewarm defense and then deleting it. if she had kept it moving she would have just gotten lumped in with everyone else but deleting a tweet is pm putting a bullseye on yourself

She had a "pr training needed" moment, that's for sure. If she didn't say anything, everything would be better.

It's very telling her name keeps coming up and not the many other folks cheering on this asshole all night, but I expect nothing less from folks here. Already people are chomping at the bits to say how much they think AB is overrated now, like damn clockwork

I think I also saw people saying she should know better because she used to work at Buzzfeed and "being so online"? She said herself that she's been too busy the last couple of years to be terminally online and keep up with celeb gossip like a lot of us do. Plus all she did was say 'Hey Brad Pitt', she didn't praise him, she hasn't worked him, like come on.

(FYI: I'm very-pro "fuck Brad Pitt" and "fuck you to anyone who works with him NOW".)

Yeah... like this so fucking weird to me that Quinta is the target of this. IDK. She's not working with him, and she was overwhelmed with the situation like HELLO she is new to this particular group of industry (like she knows comedians, but that is like... different than being in the same room as fucking Viola Davis).

Sure, one can argue that her handling of the apology is not great and if she decides to work with Brad Pitt, then we can call her out like that, but all this posturing is so fucking performative to me. :/ No consideration of how she's writing, show running, starring in a show with her hours probably being over 14-16 while working on other projects so she might not have time to know all of this? Like people who work less than her would probably not know about this because it hasn't been reported as much until now.

Again, now she knows so we move from there...

mte, thank you for putting it all to words so eloquently, bb. As a fan I'm sad that she even acknowledge that fool's existence, but I've seen time and time again where women's responses to these instances are more focused on and criticized than the abuser themselves, and it really does not sit well with me. Especially here of all places.

I'm sure she was barraged with many (racist, misogynistic) takes on why this was a bad move, so she'll move on and hopefully is more aware. But all this performative "how could she???" bullshit can go - I still have not seen this smoke for all those people saying hi and being cute with him that night, and that's everything I need to know where folks really stand on this

paid bootlicker =/= being told by people above you to do something that may jeopardize your already fragile career as a marginalized person in a notoriously bigoted industry if you stand firm and don’t, though. i don’t think it’s a coincidence that a bunch of gen z poc like her and harvey were among them. brad’s team wanted the tumblr crowd and they got them. (if you look on there it’s just a bunch of uncritical gif sets of those brad shout outs, treating them as “cute” and “goals ( ... )

You really think she was told to say 'hey brad pitt' so they could get the tumblr crowd? Sorry but that's sounds ridiculous to me. And we don't know if she or Harvey didn't previously give a shit about him or not, they grew up with his movies did they not? I know Depp pushed bots and used hateful 'influencers' online and I wouldn't be surprised if Pitt is doing that too but what he did is barely known by the gp unfortunately and he has power in Hollywood via his production company, I think that's enough protection for him right now. I don't get this ire against Quinta over this dumb thing she did, Margot Robbie works with and praises Pitt, where is this energy towards her?

You really think she was told to say 'hey brad pitt' so they could get the tumblr crowd? Sorry but that's sounds ridiculous to mei mean… what’s ridiculous about them courting young celebs they know are popular with gen x/young millennials, who they know are part of the moviegoing public? yeah, they were a lot of older people acting scary on depp’s behalf, but a huge portion of his non-bot online army were definitely the hot topic crowd ( ... )
