i don’t agree with her doing it, btw, but there were way too many people doing it for it to be sheer happenstance. brad’s pals were enforcing some mafia style kiss the ring bullshit. we know depp’s team pulled similar bullshit, we know wb buried ezra miller stories for ages, idg why people are so convinced this happened organically, especially from people who have never allegedly given a shit about pitt before? the industry remains a horrific place and metoo barely nudged the iceberg before they all scrambled to push it back down. i don’t begrudge other poc if they think something is the only way they can survive and that they can sneak in and eventually facilitate change from the inside. it was her annoyed faux apology that rubbed me the wrong way most, honestly.

And we don't know if she or Harvey didn't previously give a shit about him or not, they grew up with his movies did they not? I know Depp pushed bots and used hateful 'influencers' online and I wouldn't be surprised if Pitt is doing that too but what he did is barely known by the gp unfortunately and he has power in Hollywood via his production company, I think that's enough protection for him right now. I don't get this ire against Quinta over this dumb thing she did, Margot Robbie works with and praises Pitt, where is this energy towards her?

i mean… what’s ridiculous about them courting young celebs they know are popular with gen x/young millennials, who they know are part of the moviegoing public? yeah, they were a lot of older people acting scary on depp’s behalf, but a huge portion of his non-bot online army were definitely the hot topic crowd.

i am also a woc working in entertainment. i know how this shit works. teenage tiktok influencers will get paid thousands by agencies and studios for showing up to an event or movie and posting about it, then immediately leaving. don’t underestimate what these people will do to turn public opinion.

and yeah, margot deserves it, too. they all do. i was responding to a comment about quinta specifically. I’m sure the typical sexism/racism will always be part of her catching more heat (the men especially need called out more, too) but a lot of it on here was because of the post about her tweeting the faux apology then deleting it. (which she’s done in the past for other messiness, but. shrug.)
