The then-teenage stars of 1968's "Romeo and Juliet" claim they were told there'd be no nudity in the film, but in the final days of shooting, the director allegedly implored them to perform in the nude with body makeup, “or the Picture would fail.” https://t.co/dxRJcI4ccC

And to think my 9th grade teacher would only let us watch this version because she thought the 1996 one was the indecent one. WHO’S LAUGHING NOW?!

(In all seriousness this is awful, I hope they win and that they’re both OK)

Teachers are so clueless sometimes. I remember how our teacher didn't want to take us to see Titanic bc they were having sex but once suggested we watch Eyes Wide Shut. LMAO She clearly didn't know anything about the movie, just that it was Stanley Kubrick.

I hope it wasn’t a film-class teacher because the fact that it’s a Kubrick movie should’ve been enough lmao

No, she was our polish teacher and wanted us to watch something by an accomplished filmmaker but didn't realize what the movie was about. LOL

The director wanted actors close the the ages of the characters.

Good, there’s no reason for them to be naked in that film.

I don’t remember much of it since the first/last time I saw it was in 2000, but I remember our whole class being enthralled by how beautiful they both looked. Oh and my teacher standing in front of the tv for spicy scenes. 🤣

I love how this was DECADES ago but her eye brows are trendy again!!!! It’s crazy how fashion and trends really do just repeat; the crazy thin eyebrows from the mid to late 90s and early 2000s were seen a century ago in the 1920s.

She’s so beautiful. I know she’s well known for her beauty in the west but it kills me she’s basically permanently A-list status in East Asia. I remember first getting into kpop like 12 years ago and was just confused about why the actress in the one movie I saw in English class was referenced so much.

I remember watching this in 9th grade but have no recollection of nudity?? I wonder if our teacher stopped the film before we got to that part

The only nudity I remember is very briefly seeing the tip of his (flaccid obviously) dick and possibly his crack when he crawls out of bed the morning after. The only reason I remember it is because it was the first time I saw male nudity in a movie.

I don't remember her nudity at all, but it could be there.

She briefly flashes her breasts in one scene, and I remember it because we watched it in 8th grade and the boys in the class would NOT shut up about it.

i watched this first in the 8th grade and was surprised they showed nudity because the two actors looked young as hell (i didn't know how young at the time), but of course zeffrelli got away with it

They are seeking damages “believed to be in excess of $500 million.”

i'm sure paramount will settle but i doubt they'll get anywhere near that much. but i hope they get some retribution

think that's normal? You ask for way above leaving room for it to be negotiated to what you actually want.

oh yeah definitely, but i'm just imagining some paramount execs sweating because they finally made money from top gun after years of flops only to lose it all because of some old asshole filmmaker lmao
