Twitter is so toxic, but I can't quit it.

I know when I don't go on it my mental health improves, but I always end up back there.

I don't think any of the ones threatening it will actually quit. A lot of celebs complain about how terrible instagram is and they're all still there despite it continually getting worse.

i know i could google but, what exactly is wrong with Instagram? i literally only go on it to post my work, other than that, if i get bored i'll post a pic on my personal account. i know ads like crazy now, but did i miss something?

Basically the algorithm is messed up and shows you days old posts and prioritises reels and pushes shopping and things. It's so messed up to navigate and a lot of creators have to post links to their pics in their stories for people to know they've posted a new picture.

They've essentially tried to make it Tiktok when most people just want to scroll through photos.

also, i agree, twitter is a toxic site, i hate t with every fiber of my being.

oooh, well damn. now i get why people are pissed about it, just no one explains why. i'm barely on there, so i had no idea, but i'm surprised someone for this long, hasn't tried to start a better site. i know I've seen some who have, but they never fall through. thank you!

I hate the non-chronological order bullshit. A few days after Leslie Jordan died I opened instagram and the 2nd post was a video he uploaded 5 days prior and it was depressing. Just one of multiple reasons why that kind of feed sucks.

I also hate when I read that someone has 'just posted' something on instagram and you can't go and just open instagram and expect to see it at the top. You have to literally navigate to their page.

They purposely cripple it to boost their user engagement analytics. The longer you stay on their app, the more they can justify high advertising prices at peak hours for whatever demographic you fall into.

I've also just noticed they changed the browser so you can't organise by 'favourites' anymore.

They truly do hate their users.

I left Insta, my last social media thing, a few months ago because of how they were screwing with my feed. It was no longer chronological (heard there was some way to change that, but I was never able to) and would be interspersed with videos/pictures of people Insta thought I might want to follow instead. The only way I was able to maintain some sanity was by only following people I actually know or have met (plus a few grandfathered in or non-person accounts. And cats.). So I split altogether.

I’m such a fucking nosy person that, even though I have tried, I just can’t quit social media.
