So her records are not produced or altered in any way? Bullshit.

Also, Teena Marie forever.

I don't think that's what she's saying at all. There's a difference between a produced record and recording a song that you're physically incapable of singing live.

As a former choir kid, I agree. It's disappointing when singers are terrible live. If you know you need to be autotuned to sound good, then do my ears a favor and just lip sync.

I am okay with changing the key when singers get older or have vocal damage that affects their range.

I remember shortly after winning American Idol, Kelly Clarkson performed live at some awards show (maybe the VMAs?) and she flubbed a note that she can normally belt out with ease. I knew she had been performing nonstop and that it was vocal strain, so I felt bad for her because she clearly needed a break. That's a different story from some of the "musical artists" who are consistently flat.

I saw Kelly during her breakaway tour and she’s amazing live! I wouldn’t mind seeing her again even if I haven’t listen to any of her recent music tbh

I'm jealous! I would love to see her live, especially during that era.

I didn't care about her missing one note at the tv performance because to me that was like an athlete having an injury. She sang live every week on AI so I knew she could sing and she clearly just needed some time off to rest her voice. i was more concerned about her schedule being so grueling that it caused this to happen.

If you get the chance I highly recommend seeing Kelly live

Her voice is somehow so much better in person it’s wild

Sure it's disappointing when you hear a singer sound differently (or say terrible) than their record but to "lose respect", lol it's not that serious.

For the insane amounts of money that famous singers make, yeah, if they can't sing then yeah I lose respect

especially "singers" that are filthy rich and literally cannot sing whatsoever

I'd rather hear a few bum note and a key change than flawless playback.

Yes I'm talking about you Mariah 🙄

That said, when you know she has lot of vocal damage and more surprisingly stage fright, it's understandable.

its interesting how Mariah has had such a logn successful career still has stage fright. I think it has compounded when she knows her voice isn't what it used to be.

During her daydream era she was so free, she was running arond stage belting out these insane notes and now she barely moves

and even during her prime most of the professional tour recordings were overdubbed, when, if you listen to the undubbed versions, she sounded beautiful. imperfect but human, which is more impressive, honestly. like, wow, the person in front of me is creating these sounds

whether that was her early perfectionism (i wouldn't be surprised if she preferred her rested vocals to overworked tour vocals) or studio mandates, idk, but it's a shame

Tommy didnt want her to tour since releasing albums was the big thing back then. Also mariah's songs werent sesigned to sing back to back. I cant imagine going from vision of love to emotions in the same set would be good for your vocal health
