Even without knowing his past abuse on and off set, I saw his last 3 movies and hated them both. I just don't know how all these actors (couple of them woke) decided to work in this film, with this director and not see the backlash coming. Reminds me of the Woody Allen film with Timberlake and Winslet and the backlash they deservedly received.

Yikes @ Robbie doing films with DOR and Brad Pitt (again). Wonder if her people (which I definitely believe) won't allow interviewers and journalists to question about her doing all these movies with abusers.

I totally agree. His latest movies have been unwatchable.

She was questioned about working with Tarantino after the stuff about him choking Uma and putting her life at risk for stunts came out. Her response:

“The thought definitely crossed my mind,” Robbie said of signing up to work with Tarantino, “like, will people view this decision as conflicting with what I’m doing on the producing side?...It was my lifelong dream [to work with Tarantino], and I got to do it, and it makes me sad if people might hold that against me despite everything else I’m doing,” the actress said.

Robbie continued, “I don’t know how to say what I feel about it, because I’m so grateful to be in a position of power and to have more creative control [as a producer] when that is embraced and encouraged now. At the same time, I grew up adoring movies that were the result of the previous version of Hollywood, and aspiring to be a part of it, so to have those dreams come true also feels incredibly satisfying. I don’t know. Maybe I’m having my cake and eating it too.”

lol i think margot gets a lot more grief than her male co-stars for working with shitty people but goddamn if this isn't an incredibly insufferable response

She's always been like this, talking out of both sides of her mouth. They all do it but I get frustrated with her because her brand of feminism is all performative. She wants the credentials but also to benefit off of and uphold the system that enables the abuse.

I think if you're going to actively present yourself as a forward thinking feminist producer who makes movies with strong female characters and with female filmmakers, then yeah, you sure as hell better get more grief over it.

i think she should get grief for sure but how many films has christian bale made with DOR at this point? and he's never really gotten a bad edit once, even when he unleashed on a film set and it was recorded!

Not sure what you mean? People call Christian Bale a dickhead all the time. It doesn't affect his career. Just like Margot being a hypocritical awards chaser who works with abusers won't hurt her career either. She's a good actress and beautiful so she can get away with pretty much anything.

i genuinely do not think bale gets the kind of critique he should for his behavior, while margot definitely does. i think there's an obvious double standard and it doesn't mean margot shouldn't get called out - it's just interesting to see who gets the most of it

I simply expect more from women. Men being pieces of shit is expected.

you don’t get to where margot is as a star in hollywood without being self serving and self interested.
