Indie Film Release Guide: September 16th [An ONTD Original]

Sep 15, 2022 10:40

After a long drought of new releases at the movie theater, things are ramping back up this weekend with releases from major studios and indie distributors. The biggest of those is The Woman King from Sony, which premiered to rave reviews at TIFF. But there’s also the acclaimed David Bowie documentary Moonage Daydream from Neon, A24’s X prequel Pearl, and Saoirse Ronan’s newest effort See How They Run from Searchlight.

The films listed are from studios other than the “Big Five” - Universal Pictures, Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros., Walt Disney Pictures, and Columbia Pictures. Note that some of the movies listed are in their first week or two of limited release in the USA, so it may take them a few more weeks (or months) to show up in your local arthouse theater or on VOD. Check out the posts from the past few weeks for more movies that may have just opened near you: September 9th, September 2nd, and August 26th.
