It's just so...what are some of these people doing that they need to private jet that often?

We're never going to save our planet are we? I mean I can buy as little as possible, spend as much time separating recycling as these people spend flying, and it will not matter...

On a personal note… I hope that isn’t the case here. This needs to be our outlier summer like 2011. This can’t be our new standard. ERCOT Texas literally cannot handle it.

I was in Texas for a couple weeks in June and just stepping outside made me want to immediately turn around and fling myself back inside.

Miiiiiiiserable. Thankfully, it isn’t that bad once the sun goes down. It can be almost pleasant if it isn’t humid as hell. But you legit don’t wanna step foot outdoors from 1 - 6:30. With four to six being the most miserable because shit has just been frying all day.

As an Australian I'm high key terrified for the future - we're one of the countries that's going to be destroyed by the heat first. Last El Nino summer (2019/20, when we had all those insane bushfires) it got over 50C in some outer suburbs of Sydney. And all the new build housing out there is NOT designed for that - no trees, black asphalt everywhere, every house has a black roof and half of them have west-facing bedroom and living room windows. The 'solution' is to put a split system air conditioner in every living area/bedroom, which of course pumps hot air outside making the ambient temperature even higher, meaning you have to run the AC more etc etc.
The NSW govt were going to introduce legislation banning dark roofing but developers lobbied hard and it got walked back

Right? I hate how backward and shit our governments are like we are literally ground zero for climate change, our pacific neighbours are literally going under water and most of corporate and middle-upper income Australia is being allowed to just sit on their asses in their huge McMansions doing fuck all.

The fire emoji is entirely too appropriate here. I can't even really hate on the people who buy those houses in the outer suburbs, our housing market is so insanely fucked that it's really your only choice if you don't want to buy a shitty apartment in a defective building that you end up going bankrupt over having to pay special levies to fix the issues. Property developers get the wall.

it's not the average person, we can be the perfect environmentalist and it won't make up for what the rich and corporations are doing
