is there any extra ~qualifications for the side categories because at this point they need to put fela, mc5 and ny dolls in early influences or something because obv its not happening this way

also em going in first year eligible but chaka has been on the ballot like 6 times 😒

they have had her and rufus on the ballot multiple times and apparently questlove also has been championing for her as far as the committee goes, i dont get why they wont let her have it. she deserves it.

I don't understand why, when a nominee has been on the ballot so many times, they don't just put them in. By that point they obviously want them in, so why does it have to be consistently limited to eight inductees per year? So many influential performers are eligible by this point and now that they've opened it up to more than just rock artists, they shouldn't be running out of nominees any time soon.

Idk, so many early influences and legacy acts are getting totally passed over for younger artists and it makes me sad.

i know they care about selling tickets and increasing viewership, so it doesn't surprise me the number of younger artists getting in immediately but there needs to be more of a balance at least. there are so many early artists not in and the more time passes the less likely people will care to nominate them. i wish the induction list was longer, at least til they catch up a bit, but the show is already at almost 4 hours.

it seems like they're trying to remedy the problem slowly tho these last couple of years by putting judas priest and ll cool j in through musical excellence. i feel like mc5 will probably go that route in the next couple of years
