Mostly just the insanely long delay and promises of 900 more movies, lol.

it normalized expensive pointless 3D movies oops that's the original

For me the sequels are annoying because I'd rather JC be making non-Avatar movies

Because it's Pocahontas/Dances with Wolves rehashed in a ridiculously expensive way. There is nothing to this movie beyond it's technological feats.

I tried re-watching it on TV a while back and it was a slog to get through. Weak story, terrible dialogue, and worldbuilding that when you think about it for five seconds, makes some really weird shit.

...Like Snyder-cultist Twilight-mommy Supernatural-stans Larry-shipper Swiftie-lover levels of annoying.

I've seen plenty of people point out that it's one of the most successful films of all time yet it's had no lasting cultural impact, which is pretty damning.

It's astounding the lack of lasting cultural impact other than jokes. Which makes Disney's decision to make a whole land for it all the more baffling.

I don't hate the film and tbh this is pretty accurate.

Exactly what I was gonna comment. Avatar is the highest grossing movie of all time, But for the life of me I can't remember the name of a single character from that movie. All I remember is that Sigourney Weaver and Zoe Saldana was in it.

Not only has it not had any cultural impact but it’s managed to age terribly in less than 5 years. I mean I cringe just looking at the screen cap posted above. It looks so outdated.

and everyone raves about the CGI and to me it looks so clunky. The movement of the blue guys does not look believable.

the texture and movement of their hair and braids drove me insane.
