James Cameron’s ‘Avatar 2’ Debuts Visually Dazzling Footage at CinemaCon, Gets Official Title

Avatar 2, the sequel to James Cameron's successful 2009 movie is indeed happening and has now gotten an official title - Avatar: The Way of Water.

Further proof of the movie actually existing was unveiled at CinemaCon where attendees were given 3D glasses to watch a short trailer that contained almost no dialogue.

Cameron appeared via a pre recorded video where he said the film is “designed for the biggest screen and the most immersive 3D available,” and that he “set out to test the limits of what cinema can do.”

Set more than a decade after the original, the sequel follows Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) and their children with "the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive and the tragedies they endure."

Giovanni Ribisi, Sigourney Weaver, CCH Pounder and Stephen Lang also return in their roles and will be joined by Kate Winslet, Vin Diesel, Michelle Yeoh, Edie Falco, Cliff Curtis and Jemaine Clement.

The trailer for Avatar: The Way of Water is will debut exclusively in theaters ahead of Marvel’s “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” on May 6.
