Bettany doesn’t want to be dragged down and be put under the microscope like his buddy. Can’t ruin that squeaky clean image for Disney and mess up his bag. He’s disgusting too.

I’ll never buy that those texts were “abstract humor” or “gobbledygook” like that manipulative asshole claims. I have been extremely angry before and never once would thoughts like that cross my mind about someone I hated.

Same. I've been to the literal darkness, and never would think to string together an idea like "fuck [their] burnt corpse just to be sure."

He's out of touch with how a good person behaves. He is desensitized to how divergent and depraved that kind of language is, like he's lost the ability to laugh at things that aren't psychotic-level shocking.

I can imagine Bettany being excited to start a friendship with the career longevity and star gravitas of someone like Depp, and then a few hangs in, the relationship is really just getting crude, childish whining that his young wife mothered him and drew the line at cocaine so (paraphrase) murder then corpse rape humor. Bettany doesn't come off great, since he's all (paraphrase) "remember she's hot so you can use that to tolerate her buzzkill," but I empathize for that first moment when you get closer to someone you respected and find out they're disappointing.

I've dealt with abusive people and I never once thought to myself anything like that, or thought to joke like that. They were family members. I loved them. That was his wife who he was supposed to love.

Yeah, the most I've thought about my abuser is that I hope he dies, and soon. Maybe fantasies of spitting on his grave.

There's nothing abstract or humorous about that convo about Amber.

Exactly - I've genuinely despised friend's partners and never once did I write anything like that. The whole thing is deranged, and it's made worse by the fact that so many people are willing to turn themselves inside out to defend either one of these men, rather than admit than they're stanning total assholes.
