It's fair to say that Lana del Rey, born Elizabeth Woolridge Grant, appropriated a lot of Latina culture, especially early in her career, with the stage name Del Rey, songs partially in Spanish, and dressing like a Chola. When I first heard about her, I really thought she was Latina, but nope

A lot of people, if not most, think that the Spanish singer Rosalía is Latin. She says that "I feel Latina” when she visits places like Mexico and Panama and won many Latin Grammys Awards, and recently she won with Billie Eilish the VMA for best Latin video.

The Spanish marriage couple had had MANY Latins roles over the years, more recently Javier played the Cuban actor Desi Arnaz, in being the Ricardos and Pelépole played a Colombian in The 355. Latin Twitter often points out the fact that many of these roles should have been to actually Latin actors.

She used this "aesthetic" in her 2005 music video, “Luxurious.” She also surrounds herself with Mexican American extras and is the blondest and whitest woman in the video ofc. Gwen Stefani once said that she just “wants to pay homage” and she is "mesmerizes" by Chola culture.
