I finally had some time to watch this season and i am so much more into it than i was last season

still some storylines i dont care about but overall... quite good

i want some nonsense to read... what are the books like?

#2 (book this season is based on) is the best one. they're very easy to read and kinda of like candy. each book follows a different romance trope, but generally have the same formula. if you think about them too much you'll enjoy them less. you have to like a brooding man, though. i find every time a character becomes the main of their book, they kinda loose individual traits/personalities and become a generic main and for the guys that's a moody, brooding male who's kinda sexist lol

The Kate and Anthony book was easily the best of the series, but imo the show the season was miles better than the book. TBH, the Bridgerton book series is just ok and it's approx. 20 years old now and compared to current romance novels they do feel dated.

If you want to read something more current with similar vibes, I'd recommend Sarah Maclean for the angst (although be warned, her hero's often start out as tremendous assholes), Tessa Dare for a more romcom vibe with some bonkers plots and genuine humor, and the high priestess of romance, Lisa Kleypas who really has something for everyone.

The slow build started too late even though I did love the torture. I just keep telling people to watch s1 of Poldark for a better burn

I understand how writers wanted to keep some plot lines around because it's continuous buildup for another season but the more I think of it, the more I'm disappointed by how the main couple has been sidelined. As one user said: we saw them fall in lust, but we deserve the softening up and loving.

I also am so addled that I for a moment thought that my fic-ideas were canon I watched in season three 😐

i lose interest basically as soon as the couple gets together (sometimes i will quit reading if they get married too quickly and kids start showing up and i'm only half way through lmao), and even i thought it ended pretty abruptly.
