Yeah, like IIRC weren't Naya and Ryan not even together at the time of her death?

I didn't get why people would feel weird about it because it wouldn't be the first time that people bonded through deep mourning and sometimes we've seen it turn into a romance down the road

Literally, who cares. Grief is such a specific and unique phenomenon to each person. So misunderstood and complex, it’s infuriating to see people casting aspersions on how someone behaves in the aftermath of losing a loved one.

People looking from the outside need to learn tact and empathy, but it seems impossible on the anonymized internet.

IA, it’s so weird people felt like they had the right to tell her how they felt about it let alone send death threats?!

I’ve learned from my own big loss this year that (a) everyone grieves differently and (b) you can’t understand a loss like this until you experience it, so the fact that she’s had to deal with shit doesn’t really surprise me, it just makes me hope that when such commenters experience their own loss, they receive more grace from people than they gave.

This exactly. It wasn't until losing my dad unexpectedly a year and a half ago that I really, truly understood what a total mindfuck grief can be. I'm still struggling with "Am I grieving the right way? Should I still be feeling this or not feeling that?"
For this woman to come through and do everything that she could to help make her nephew's life a little bit easier should be seen as a blessing. Sending death threats? WTF.

There's also the phenomenon of people thinking your grief lasts a year and then it's over. No one understands until they experience it.

Yep. This is one of a myriad of reasons why I'm getting divorced.
I cringe when I think of the things I've said to loved ones who've lost someone - nothing cruel or unfeeling, but I really did not get it. Sucks that you've got to join the club to get the password, though.

Yeah, we’re coming close to the first anniversary of losing my mom and I can’t imagine that I’ll feel all better the next day. I recently read the second year is worse and I’m like how is that possible? But I’m also very aware how wonderful and understanding my work has been and that it’ll be less understandable to many soon.

ia

They weren't siblings but that happened to someone I know. She stepped in when her bff died to help with her friend's kid. She's now married to her bff's widow.

It happens. It's not like she was aiming for a husband, she just wanted to be there for her friend's kid. Sadly her step-daughter's maternal grandparents definitely see it in a bad light :/

What is this thread? A joke?
If they were dating, plenty of the internet, including ONTD, would be dragging them to hell, alleging child abuse, and doing true crime re-enactment conspiracy theories on Naya's death.
We lose our shit when we think some celeb is dating someone not cute enough for them. A sister dating the widower of her sibling, who died under mysterious circumstances? The comment shitshow on ONTD would have been epic. And plenty of y'all (and me) would have been right there, too.

Look, y'all want to say you'd be so open- minded if the story of the two dating had come out, that's cool.
I don't believe ne'er none of you but, that's cool.

Apparently they were checking for her, based on the crap she had to put up with from so many crazy people with apparently nothing better to do.
