The judge's ruling comes weeks after Sami alleged in TikTok videos last month, as reported by Page Six, that she moved out of Richards' home and in with Sheen, complaining about being "trapped" at her mom's place. (The posts have since been made private.) The teen said she "finally moved out of the hell house, had a spiritual awakening."

If they live with the wealthier parent does the other one get nothing? I feel like there have been other cases that suggest that's not how it works.

It can vary by state but usually the parent who has the children more than 50% of the time gets paid child support from the other parent who is not doing as much of the child rearing. The payment amount is decided by the court based on each parent’s income.

she almost certainly was served with the motion materials forever ago, and just failed to attend - so the court was entitled to go with his evidence alone re: parental time.

child support is directly related to the amount of time the child spends with the paying parent. payment is inversely correlated with time spent.

in my jurisdiction at least, if your parental time exceeds 40% of the time/146 overnights a year, then you don’t have to pay child support to the residential parent.

so, if she’s staying with him every time her mom is away & other nights in addition to that, it might have reached the threshold that child support was no longer appropriate. but idk whether California law works similarly.

sounds to me like she's saying she didn't even know the hearing was happening. but, honestly, there's zero chance of that if she has a lawyer (which she definitely does).

sounds to me like her lawyer attended on her behalf, but she failed to or chose not to attend -- a dumb move, given she could have attended by phone/video -- and wrongly assumed that they wouldn't make any new order if she wasn't there.

i wouldn't be surprised if they didn't even file any reply evidence and just tried to lean on a last-minute adjournment motion (because she was """out of town""") to try to delay his application, and she's "blindsided" because the court granted the new order anyway in her absence.

anyway this is just theorizing based on the above really stupid statement, i have no actual idea

that seems pretty surprising. charlie has to still have a lot of money coming in from two and a half men syndication, i have to assume? also charlie and denise seemed on relatively good terms so it's interesting.

He's loaded and they're on good terms. This has more to do with the fact that she missed the court date (and didn't send someone in her absence, like a lawyer).

If this has been going on for two years she and her lawyers should’ve been paying attention. They definitely would’ve been notified of the date. Really though what it comes down to is who actually has the kids more. If Charlie has the kids more than her then she is not entitled to support.
