Favourite musical is probably Once on this Island. But I also really enjoyed Miss Saigon, Phantom and Sweeney Todd. They all hold fond childhood memories.

the award show portion that aired on paramount+ was really well done. audra mcdonald was a great host, the speeches were wonderful (the tony's always have the best award show speeches) and no one got played off, and you could feel there was a lot of love and positive energy in the room. it even ended ten minutes early!

i thought jagged little pill would win best musical, but now that i'm watching the moulin rouge performance on the concert special i see why they picked that instead. it was a weak field but there's fun and energy in that show is undeniable

All in all, there was not a lot of good stuff out before the pandemic, so...

But A Slave Play is reopening and they were obvs so confident they'd win SOMETHING...and they didn't. Welp.

Favorite musical all the way through is the Legally Blonde one, MTV recording (Waitress is good too tho, the kimiko glenn cast)!! I would love to see more musicals tho, they're lovely but very inaccessible to most people.
