Vanity Fair got a first look at the upcoming Guillermo del Toro film Nightmare Alley, starring Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara, Toni Collette, and Willem Dafoe. There is a film of the same name from 1947 adapted from the same source material, but this film is a new adaptation of the William Lindsay

I'm kind of...whelmed? Maybe they're just bad stills and it'll look better in motion but I was expecting more. It doesn't look very noir-ish.

It's probably the lighting; it's gorgeous but definitely not as ironically high contrast and harsh compared to old school noir
