She really went through some shit. People were awful to her. I don’t blame her for cutting and running at the peak of the OC

This was a pretty well-written piece.

"Was told that her mother shouldn't remain on her team - even though she was trying to guide and protect her."

Which is interesting cause I remembering on imdb message boards that she was a spoiled brat and someone saw her yelling at her mom in an elevator. I think even in the last posts others heard those rumors too. So sometimes I'm like what is the truth? That said going by her word it's good that her mom was protecting her. But I totally believe hollywood wanted to get rid of her for that reason....can't ~stifle artistic visions~ if the responsible parent isn't there-horrid.

"But even if I had wanted to, it wouldn’t have been safe because of the dangerous situations that the paparazzi created. They chased my car. They tried to climb over the walls to my house. They’d track my phone and my car. They’d make deals with restaurants so that when I went to one, someone would notify them. They’d buy cell phones for the homeless, instructing them to call as soon as they saw me walking down the ( ... )

Teenagers screaming at their parents, even well meaning ones, is way more common than you think lol

Yeah but its never seen as a good thing. And she had a few of those types of rumors follow her for years! which is why I was like what is the truth.

Oh of course, I don't really follow her, so she might have a history of her own. My point was screaming at mom as a teenager, might not mean, she wasn't on good terms with her mom. But from other comments, seems like she's been messy in her own right.

Oof. We're so hard on famous teenagers and we should extend them some grace considering most of them do not do so well as adults.

How many of us would handle being millionaires and famous at 17-18? I would have lost my fucking mind. I was a broke normal teenager and I had a hard time growing up.

She probably was a nightmare, but she was also a kid and I don't think people were keeping that in mind with how they tried to manage her. Regardless of her attitude the adults in her life were definitely doing wrong by her.

I get it, the most vulnerable time in my life instead of being protected I was just called a little bitch. And when that starts to happen you just act out more. Maybe that's why I've always had a soft spot for her.
