one of the most unnerving incidents of sexual harassment/intimidation I've experienced was when a group of literal children started yelling shit at me and following me around a BART platform. this was at like 2 in the afternoon and there were plenty of people around and they were getting right up next to me and saying the most lewd and obscene stuff. they couldn't have been older than like, 14. they even followed me on the train and only dispersed when I sat a few seats away from some random guy and they were like "oh is that your boyfriend?" and walked off. like... clearly this man is not my boyfriend lmao what but that was all it took I guess

I was going over this thread when this memory suddenly hit me of this grown ass man chasing me and my best friend (we were I think 15) down a street, we were running away and so freaked out until we saw a guy sitting on a bench and we just kind of huddled up to him, and the guy who was chasing us left us alone after that.

Yes, we are so used to this and are told to ignore it bc boy will be boys and all that crap, that we often don't even register.

It's truly annoying that we can never really feel safe, not at work, not at parties, not on our way back home minding our business.

I work shifts, so when I was returning home late pre-pandemic, I would never listen to music when I got out of the subway at my stop.

Mte. Speak on these FACTS. Men are such a huge letdown in today’s society. I’m just so disgusted and horrified beyond words.

Tbh I know it’s too naive to ask this but literally when and how will this just....stop? When will men ever stop being so gross?

I don't have a lot of hope. I'm so tired of men. Why can't they just ignore me, like I do with them?

It's hard to remember that someone shouting "hey nice ass!" from a car or whatever is harassment, but it is! It's so insanely common. And I bet if you were to ask anyone "is sexual harassment bad?", almost all of them would say "absolutely yes!". But if you were to ask those same people "is shouting 'hey baby! you lookin' fine!' from a car bad?" a LOT LESS of them would say yes. BUT THEY'RE THE SAME THING. No one wants to be publicly sexually objectified when they're just doing their own thing.

"It's just a compliment! Am I not even allowed to talk to a woman anymore???"
