Skincare World in shambles: another popular sunscreen brand lied about their SPF

Some news from Krave Beauty about The Beet Shield (Beet the Sun): the product, when tested by independent 3rd parties here in the US, confirmed the SPF rating was lower than 55, “performing below their standards.” Because of this, the brand is discontinuing the product. pic.twitter.com/92hvo5nlmL

well, all of these are SPF’s, lol. the issue is that testing varies. supergoop is sold in the US so we know off the bat it probably has pretty dismal UVA protection, and FDA regulations state that SPF brands only need one round of third party testing to confirm manufacturer results. that’s exactly what krave did, and the results were wrong. i’m willing to bet most sunscreens on the US market will test below advertised SPF, and again, that’s not really even touching their protection against UVA rays, which isn’t even done in the US anyway.

You should check if it’s the same product in all countries. Some have different makeups of the chemicals inside. But it is sold in thr EU (I’m almost positive) and we have really strict SPF regulations. The only place with more restrictions to be sold as spf is Australia
