You know all these rich people can afford tests. They can afford the best treatment if they get sick ( ... )

I keep thinking about this and it makes me so angry.
My parents who both live alone want me to visit them but I don't think it's a good idea. Do I want to change my mind, seeing as everyone's decided to just be selfish and push another worsened lockdown on us in January, not to mention the added stress on those working in hospitals etc? Sure, I feel very much like changing my mind and traveling via train to meet my parents so they don't have to be alone and I don't have to spend Christmas with my ex. I hate people right now.

Yeah for sure. Like I live pretty close to my parents but I take public transport anyway to work but I go very early, wear my mask, avoid people. It’s a question of calculated risk I guess. And I leave that to my parents but so far I’ve been doing pretty well with that method and haven’t had contact with anyone infected.

Of course I could ask my work to work from home but I live about 10 minutes away by tram and I live alone. So I could only get grocery delivery, stay home, work from home but my mental health couldn’t take it so this is the solution I have for myself where I’m just careful when I’m out and get grocery delivery most weeks instead of every week.

And possibly hogging medical resources.

That angers me the most tbh. Yes they can afford tests, but those tests should go to people who need them instead!

Going by those Christmas regulations, are you in Germany by any chance?
Cause I feel you on the lifting things for the end of December, it's careless because we have seen how people are lax this whole fall season, why would they suddenly act responsible and careful around christmas?

Oh, I assume our numbers will go through the roof early/mid-January. It's not like people will spend the holidays coming together in a group of 10 adults and x children once and remain in that bubble. They'll travel all across the country, celebrate with their immediate family on the 24th, with that side of the extended family on the 25thl with the other side on the 26th, meet this group of old friends one evening, that group the next ( ... )

Yeah same. Even if people can keep it together and not meet old friends, the moment they let extended family in/go there it'll get messy ( ... )

It’s unfortunate (in this year) how ingrained Christmas is here. I am indeed German.

Because Christmas shopping, Christmas markets, family get togethers.

Well if they closed the shops before Christmas people would complain that they’re killing in person stores and giving the whole Christmas money to Amazon and other online retailers. But even if the shops allow a limited number of customers and you have to wear a mask while in busy places people still crowd together outside. There are also some Christmassy food booths in my city to make up for cancelling the Christmas market. There are queues to consider there....

As for spending Christmas with your family. If they didn’t lift it for Christmas there’d be riots in the street. Like people take this shit so seriously. We can only hope everyone who can quarantines for the recommended 5 days before though some people (like me) have work (in person). We’ll see what kind of crackdown we get in January as a result.

I have to say I am impressed that today customers were very good with the mask wearing (sad low bar I knowxD) and patient when they had to wait to enter the store when we were at our allowed capacity ( ... )

Same here about socially distancing otherwise.

Yeah I just think people shop every weekday afternoon not just the weekend. It always seems packed.

And yeah I could live without fireworks too. Poor hospital workers having to deal with the injuries of people lighting one in their hand and what not.

Bringing in the people who work for them as well as anyone who lives with the workers. It's a fucking mess.
