yeah it's easier to suspend disbelief age wise when it comes to theatre but for the movie it's a bit much

Amy's playing Cynthia so she won't be singing So Big/So Small unfortunately

DW I totally assumed she was cast as Heidi too, especially because Cynthia doesn't have any solos. I wonder if they're writing something new for Amy or if they have an even bigger named lined up for Heidi.

Exactly same, even though some of the songs are basic and I think it got way more praise than it should've, I actually love 85% of the soundtrack but I have to listen to it ignoring the plot or pretending For Forever is real LOL and Connor isn't dead. I love Good For You, Waving Through a Window, Sincerely Me... but the plot is major yikes.

I love Requiem a lot, I love Only Us if I forget the ENTIRE context and Evan's character entirely, Waving Through A Window, For Forever and Sincerely Me too! I really can't stand Words Fail though, I think it's too dependent on context.

Oh yeah I don't have Words Fail saved either. I didn't like Only Us at first because the context pissed me off so much (more than that, I find it really stressful!!) but after seeing this version I like the song and the original too:

I just hate that Connor's character and suicide was a plot device for Evan's ~growth/journey and it blurs the lines of who his character even was. And then poor Zoe, I can't even begin

there is just so much i hate about almost all of it. evan never faces any consequences for doing what was straight up something horrific. he lied to zoe about connor and made him seem like a loving brother which is awful when she was struggling to come to terms with not feeling bad about the death of someone who was, at the very least, scary to her (she has a line about him banging on her door threatening to kill her and she calls him a monster) and evan's out here like YEAH HE REALLY LOVED YOU ( ... )

Yeah it was like a lot of gaslighting to poor Zoe and then that ending, oof.

Oh I shall admit I have also read a few Connor/Evan fanfics which has biased my view because yeah, I basically want a fix-it friendship/romantic plot instead where people get proper therapy and things are ok. Not starting it off with a teen suicide and traumatizd family uh
