Why didn't the judge just start a new zoom call just for the people involved?

don't you have to have an invitation link to join a Zoom meeting? granted, i have not used Zoom once, i'm just going by co-workers lol

My job has the business version so maybe their's is different, but yes, you need an invite and the host can control who is there.

Yeah but that link can be shared with anyone. So if one person gets the link, and someone hacks their email they can access it as well. I've forwarded my own invite emails to co-workers when they've lost theirs and they were able to access it. I'm sure someone's personal email got hacked. People suck. I wonder if they can do a facetime meeting that would be more secure I would assume.

Depends on the settings. Some are password protected, or you can send a certain link to certain people.

Zoom has quite a lot of privacy/security issues that are easy to exploit.

Yup, you need a meeting ID and a password, don’t know how so many people could get in

Yes but weird things happen. One time I became the host for my class for no reason it just happened. I was busy playing Luxor and not paying attention so it was fine but I can imagine for some people taking control of the zoom would be great.

Admin of the meeting can remove people too

If they could do this but kept those fools on for 2 hours like this post suggests is mind boggling. Why would a judge waste time like this. I feel like it would push everything back if they had to proceed over other things.

They probably don't care.

the admin can also just block people so this excuse reeks of horse crap.

I don't think they were actually using zoom, The Blast says the courts have their own conferencing system. I think TMZ is using "Zoom" as a synonym for video conferencing. So who knows what kind of setup it is and how the people hacked it. In the statement the court said:

"LACourtConnect is not authorized for use by anyone other than litigants and attorneys and others involved in a case - it is not authorized for media use"

Which makes me hypothesize that the Free Britney were able to erroneously get an account by pretending to be a lawyer.

ok but don't you think that news outlets would have reported it as such eg. unknown individuals unlawfully obtained access/hacked their way into the system. i mean it specifically states that the judge asked these people to log off meaning there was a dialogue going back and forth. if this had been a case of hacking, you can be sure that the judge would have immediately shut the conference down and alerted the authorities.

You can make meetings so that registration is required as well as password protect, kick people out, and have a waiting room. i don't understand how courts don't take this precaution already.

Yeah like if I use the waiting room for my stupid work Zooms how is a judge not?
