don't know if i can articulate it correctly, but what makes me so angry/upset about this is that it proves that for a lot of people, politics and the presidency is just a joke/popularity contest. my friend texted me this news laughing and was like "why NOT vote for him??? at least he's not trump! and he's so honest even if he's a misogynist/racist/conservative!" as if i'm supposed to give a shit about that

I have never got how this "at least he's honest about it!" thing seems to endear assholes to people, as if it's the great redeeming quality. Like, if you have to pick the lesser of the evils between two assholes then sure, a bit of self-awareness might be your tie breaker, but they're not suddenly a big sweetheart.
