don't know if i can articulate it correctly, but what makes me so angry/upset about this is that it proves that for a lot of people, politics and the presidency is just a joke/popularity contest. my friend texted me this news laughing and was like "why NOT vote for him??? at least he's not trump! and he's so honest even if he's a misogynist/racist/conservative!" as if i'm supposed to give a shit about that

some people literally don't give a shit. kanye is not a politician, doesn't know shit about politics, doesn't have actual stances on any policy, doesn't care about the general population, is clearly running because it's just an ego trip for him, and there are people out there who are just laughing it off when in reality, this type of shit proves everything that's wrong with the us. he's literally doing the same thing trump did and people are falling for it. and i'm supposed to just laugh or actually consider him as a viable option. considering how much of a dumpster fire everything in the world is, THIS is who i'm supposed to settle on/consider viable???? jfc

I have never got how this "at least he's honest about it!" thing seems to endear assholes to people, as if it's the great redeeming quality. Like, if you have to pick the lesser of the evils between two assholes then sure, a bit of self-awareness might be your tie breaker, but they're not suddenly a big sweetheart. They're just a raging asshole who doesn't feel the need to hide it lol
