Katie Couric recalls and ‘Uncomfortable’ interview with Denzel Washington

Apr 30, 2020 03:40

Just so we're clear...

Katie Couric referred to Denzel Washington as "Holywood folk."

Denzel Washington responded " I'm not a Hollywood folk. I don't know who they are. I'm a human being. My job is acting."

Couric: He "jumped all over me."https://t.co/GvvPN7pz0y

yeah i don't know why he makes things purposely difficult for interviewers. they're there so you can promote YOUR movie, dude

exactly???
why become an actor if you're not prepared to do this shit i'm sorry, ppl who are like "actors shouldn't have to put up with this" it's literally part of their job, they have to sell the film they're in it's part of the process, acting and marketing/selling

She could’ve said the interview got awkward. “Kinda jumped all over me” is a stretch.

One of the most uncomfortable interviews I've ever read was with him, you just knew the woman conducting it went home and cried.

A lot of actors are shitty interviews (Robert De Niro for example) but Denzel is the one with the bad reputation and if you don't think racism has a part to play in that, I don't know what to tell you.

Yup.

Harrison Ford is awkward af during interviews/looks miserable and even hostile a handful of times as I can remember. He truly HATES going on tonight shows but LOL that makes Han Solo funny and endearing ~

And let's not***forget his son Ben Solo who claims to be triggered with anxiety when he sees or hears a clip of himself during movie promos (HE HAS ANXIETY OK) but dude sure as shit shows up at the Oscars in a suit and tie, seated perfectly fine amongst his peers while the 1 minute sample of his performance plays during his nominee category.

idk why that would make his anxiety less valid. I would rather lose my hand than touch a spider but if an oscar depended on it id probably eat one alive. hes still got a rep for walking out of an interview.

plenty of white actors have bad reputations too, that doesnt have anything to do with the original point

just because racism exists doesnt mean all black people are impervious to criticism

Almost every commenter in this thread just swiftly moving past the point. Uncomfortable. Loud. Unsafe. Angry. Rude. Threatening. Uneducated. These are words that people often use to describe conversations with black people. That is the point for those of you still on the bus.
