Indie Film Release Guide: March 13th [An ONTD Original]
Saying that it's been a strange month for film is a bit of an understatement, with seemingly every big movie for the foreseeable future being pushed back. But major studio releases Bloodshot and The Hunt are both still scheduled for release this weekend, as well as the indies listed below, several of which are also available digitally for home consumption. There's also a list of recent digital releases at the end of the post, in case you are looking for something new to watch without leaving home.
The films listed are from studios other than the “Big Six” - Paramount, Warner Brothers, 20th Century Fox, Universal, Columbia/Sony and Disney. Note that some of the movies listed are in their first week or two of limited release in the USA, so it may take them a few more weeks (or months) to show up in your local arthouse theater or on VOD. What you should know: Musician Sharon Van Etten plays the mom of main character Autumn, as well as providing the song that plays over the end credits (and the song in this trailer).

I Still Believe

Plot: The true-life story of Christian music star Jeremy Camp and his journey of love and loss that looks to prove there is always hope.
What you should know: K.J. Apa and Britt Roberston previously played a couple in A Dog’s Purpose.

The Postcard Killings

Plot: A New York detective investigates the death of his daughter who was murdered while on her honeymoon in London; he recruits the help of a Scandinavian journalist when other couples throughout Europe suffer a similar fate.
What you should know: Based on the novel by Liza Marklund and James Patterson.

Big Time Adolescence

Genre: Comedy
Plot: A suburban teenager comes of age under the destructive guidance of his best friend, an aimless college dropout.
What you should know: Pete Davidson and Machine Gun Kelly previously starred together in the Mötley Crüe biopic The Dirt.

The Roads Not Taken
Stars: Javier Bardem, Elle Fanning, Salma Hayek, Laura Linney

Genre: Drama
Plot: Leo and his daughter, Molly, as he floats through alternate lives he could have lived, leading Molly to wrestle with her own path as she considers her future.
What you should know: Premiered at the 2020 Berlin International Film Festival.

Inside The Rain

Plot: Facing expulsion from college over a misunderstanding, a bipolar student indulges his misery at a strip club where he befriends a gorgeous, intelligent, outrageous woman and they hatch a madcap scheme to prove his innocence.
What you should know: This is writer/director Aaron Fisher’s first feature.

Human Nature

Storyline: A breakthrough called CRISPR opens the door to curing diseases, reshaping the biosphere, and designing our own children. A provocative exploration of its far-reaching implications, through the eyes of the scientists who discovered it.
What you should know: This is the first feature documentary directed by Adam Bolt.

Lost Transmissions

Plot: When an acclaimed music producer goes off his medication for schizophrenia, his friends chase him though the LA music scene to help commit him to a psychiatric hospital, revealing the troubling inadequacies of our mental health care system.
What you should know: This is director Katharine O’Brien’s first feature film.

After finding the inner strength to get past the suicidal feelings, he decides to strive to make his dad proud and repair the relationship he tore apart.
What you should know: This is director Joe Carlini’s first narrative feature film.
