as much as i want woody allen to kick it... i know the media will be praising him the day he does die, and his "accomplishments in film", and i can't imagine how hard it will be for her to see that.

i feel so sad for her.

Not looking forward to all the headlines describing him as "complicated" or "controversial".

Yep can’t wait for ONTD to be flooded with comments about how it’s too soon to call him a pedophile or a child abuser after death because he ~has family who loved him~

I don't think so tbh. People here will understand that his family might view him differently but overall people will be relieved for them especially Soo-yin even though she may not feel it that way.

It's worlds different to Kobe Bryant or even to Caroline Flack, whereas I could see how people might've been sympathetic with them to a degree.

Woody Allen is not getting much sympathies on here, same with Polanski.

Why is it different? If the argument against calling Kobe a rapist after his death was “you’re disrespecting his grieving family” then either that argument applies to the deaths of all terrible people or it’s not actually a very good argument.

It is different because it wasn't Kobe alone to die on that plane crash. The other people too but mostly his daughter dying along with him added an extra layer of sensitivity to his family and so any criticism was obviously gonna be met with aggressive defense. That's why people here were a little bit more sensitive to Vanessa and her family. No one here said he wasn't a rapist or denying it regardless ( ... )

But those comments were littered throughout Kobe posts. “If you mention him being a rapist you are disrespecting his family!” They were regular users too, not trolls. I expect those same people to keep the same energy for all future celebrity deaths, or else their logic wouldn’t be very consistent, would it? 🤔

He also has family who hates him (a majority really) so...plus at least he‘d be dead.

I don't think it would be anything like the Kobe situation at all.

lol they already do

or they think they’re being sneaky when they couch their support via defending his vocal defenders such as bob weide

the industry is trash and full of social-climbing opportunists so i am not surprised in the least

I checked out Dylan's tweet and saw that there were already a ton of #TeamWoody a-holes attacking her :|

Imagine being that invested in a man who made questionably good movies 40 years ago.

“Regardless of his controversial private life, his artistic brilliance changed the film landscape.” Or some such bullshit.

Never mind he made the same film over and over and that nearly every one was about a creepy middle aged/old pervert with an obsession for a teenage/barely 20s young woman.
