The fact that grown adults are lauding Billie Eilish as a ‘real artist’ and using her to tear down other (primarily female) artists is just... corny and embarrassing.

Even more so when you know some of them probably had more organic come-ups than Billie herself.

They do this with every pop girl who looks atypical to the standard pop girl.

This was Lorde 7 years ago.

True. It’s especially embarrassing because Billie even said in her speech that Ariana inspired her etc.

It veers into creepy the way some hold her up as some saviour, especially when it’s grown men doing so.

Yeah this reminds me of Dave Grohl saying how much he loves a girl like Lorde because it gives him hope for his daughter's generation instead of them listening to stripper pop like Rihanna.

Correction I looked up the article and he doesn't specifically call out Rihanna so that an error on my part:

"Dave Grohl has described the moment he first heard Lorde’s ‘Royals’, saying she is different to all the other “stripper pop” he hears on the radio ( ... )

No I know what you mean. There was a huge put down/condescending attitude aimed at people if you're weren't listening to the classic rock of the 70s, the beatles and that generation, and non-mainstream music.

People like Dave Grohl only like female artists who are up to his standard like he'll sing praises of women like Billie, Lorde, and Adele etc...etc but take cracks at girls like Britney and the like. I mean not everyone is gonna like certain styles of music and that's realistic but I do think it's pretty sexist in how this is laid out on the table.

Yeah, it’s incredibly fucked up. Speaking of Grohl, he was embarrassing about Billie too:

“My daughters are obsessed with Billie Eilish, the same thing is happening with her that happened with Nirvana in 1991. People say, ‘Is rock dead?’ When I look at someone like Billie Eilish, rock and roll is not close to dead!”

Thank you for so fully owning your mistake. I really appreciate it, personally.

/I'm saying this completely free of irony or snark just FYI.
