Correction I looked up the article and he doesn't specifically call out Rihanna so that an error on my part:

"Dave Grohl has described the moment he first heard Lorde’s ‘Royals’, saying she is different to all the other “stripper pop” he hears on the radio.

Recalling the moment he first heard Lorde, Dave Grohl told Rolling Stone: “I was driving. My two daughters, Violet and Harper, who are eight and five years old, started singing along. I was so happy and relieved that my two girls were singing a popular song on the radio that had some substance and depth, which I considered to be healthy for them as kids. I know that sounds kind of parent-ish.”

He added: “When I first heard ‘Royals’ it was sandwiched between all of that other stripper pop,” he says. “I was so fucking relieved. I thought, ‘Hey, this might be another revolution.’ When I met her I said, ‘When I first heard your song on the radio and my kids sang along I felt like there was hope for my kids to grow up in an environment which is more than just superficial.'”

Thank you for so fully owning your mistake. I really appreciate it, personally.

/I'm saying this completely free of irony or snark just FYI.

lol no problem. I remember him saying that but I don't know where I go the Rihanna part from. Although I just figured he was talking about her and all the other pop girls.
