The movie starring Taylor Swift, JHud and Dame Judi Dench among others has so far only grossed $38M on a $90-100M budget and another $115 on marketing the movie.
It is not expected to hit $100M worldwide

On one hand, it's not fair to call this Taylor's flop, but on the other hand, she's one of the biggest stars in the world. If she can't get her fans in seats, they might as well pull this from theaters.

I have two thoughts on this.
1) Taylor is still a huge star, but she definitely isn't what she used to be. She hasn't had a hit single since 1989. She no longer has the pull with the general public. I don't know any current popstar though that could drive people to the theaters just for them. She still has the numbers because she has convinced her stans that they're a team. Her victories are everyone's victories.
2) Her fanbase has no reason to support this like they do everything else she does. She hasn't shown them that their blind support of this will be rewarded like her previous endeavors. I feel like if "she" was on tumblr and twitter engaging with them for supporting, they would. But she is trying to distance herself from it so so are they.

this proves to me a lot of her sales wouldn’t be there if there wasn’t a huge gimmick behind it. She motivates sales for her albums but putting clues in different ones or something personal. I really wonder how her sales would be if she just dropped an album with no “prize” for buying multiple

She’s never been a box office draw tbh. She’s been trying to find her Hollywood breakthrough for years and it never works because people aren’t checking for her like that, not even her insane stans who are willing to buy the same album eight times. (It’s also why those who joke about her boyfriend only getting movie roles because of her are very wrong tbh - she can’t even get good roles for herself, how’s she gonna help him?)
