My friend and her male coworker have hung out for 3 years together as just friends, but just recently he got a girlfriend and just cut off communication with her completely. She turned down his advances 3 years ago, and I thought maybe he doesn't need her now that he has someone else to hang out with... she can't figure it out and is upset.

We don't know. He just cut her off and stopped responding to messages about work stuff, etc.

I mean I get it. Honestly if I started dating a guy and he was super close with a girl who turned him down I don’t think I’d be too comfortable with that relationship so maybe he’s being respectful of that? Or maybe yeah like you said, he was only hanging around her because he was hoping things would change between them eventually. That sounds the most likely. I feel bad for your friend though that sucks. :[

A really dumb girl at work said her boyfriend could not have female friends. (She seriously started a very loud, multi-person debate about this, rme). He can ony hang out with women if she tags along everywhere. Her reasoning was that ~women these days~ are mostly man stealers. I asked her what about trans women. She said "Hah, my man would never hang around those...Okay, fine, if he did know trans women he could hang out with them without me. But he would NEVER be around them to begin with, so *hand wave* it's not something I'd have to think about." When she walked off, people were spilling about how he cheated on her in the past & she was always running back to him.

The girl at your work sounds like an asshole but also while guys can totally have female friends i dont believe they ever see them as only platonic and would totally sleep with them if given the chance. Note: as men are shallow this would only apply to attractive female friends

Omg what is it with people like this? I had a couple coworkers gang up on me one day because I said I trusted my boyfriend to hang around other women. They posited "ok so you let him just hang out with your best friend ALONE???" and I was like "well, yeah? I'm at work and we're all gonna hang out when I get off in 15. Why would I make her wait until I got home to head over?"

At this explanation, they started laughing raucously and talking about naive and stupid I was to believe that they weren't doing anything together and how I would definitely wake up to the real world soon enough. The sad part is I'd already been cheated on by my previous partner and they were kind of just feeding into those insecurities.

it was often hinted that they will become a couple especially in the earlier seasons and it was obvious that phoebe had a crush on joey. I read somewhere that the writers wanted them to become endgame but loved paul rudd that they decided to keep him.

yeah, they were initially going to be revealed to have been having casual sex throughout the show's run, but they nixed it. it seems like they were building toward something in the episode(s) where joey dated ursula, but beyond that they just sort of made jokes about them being each other's backups and stuff.
