The amount that non-Americans are expected to know about the politics of the US can be so tiring when interacting with Americans online. Especially when it so rarely goes the other way.

You say this like the UK isn't also deeply involved.

tbh on one hand i agree but the international involvement with iraq and afghanistan (lbr every american war since vietnam) has been extensive enough we can and should know some basic information, especially before sharing our two cents

Americans have to stop assuming the rest of the universe knows their history/politics.... it’s so tiring

Eh. I doubt most Americans know about Tony fucking Blair and his bullshit role in this mess. So it's whatever.

I remember hearing about them though even as a teenager, and what happened to them after their anti-Bush protests

She said Ellen was making "an incredibly necessary point in our society".

tbh this part is way worse than her not knowing a ton about American history and precisely why he sucks. If she didn't know, she shouldn't have commented and sided with Ellen without context. The fact that a lot of people were using the term "war criminal" maybe should've tipped her off that this wasn't just pointless divisive ~SJW nonsense.

This is true. More people should have the courage say "I don't know enough about that" before spouting off.

Yeah, I think Jameela makes some great points about body positivity, and I appreciate them, but it was a terrible idea for her to comment about this. If you don't know anything about US politics, that's fine, but don't make statements and take stances about things you don't understand when you're a public figure.

Right, if you know that you don't know, don't comment.

read a bit before you give commentary???

I appreciate her being self-aware and self-correcting, but it really would help her if she read and checked out facts and searched things before making comments. She does this A LOT. It loses meaning when she continuously apologizes and backtracks. Like, this could all be prevented and avoided.
