She said Ellen was making "an incredibly necessary point in our society".

tbh this part is way worse than her not knowing a ton about American history and precisely why he sucks. If she didn't know, she shouldn't have commented and sided with Ellen without context. The fact that a lot of people were using the term "war criminal" maybe should've tipped her off that this wasn't just pointless divisive ~SJW nonsense.

This is true. More people should have the courage say "I don't know enough about that" before spouting off.

Yeah, I think Jameela makes some great points about body positivity, and I appreciate them, but it was a terrible idea for her to comment about this. If you don't know anything about US politics, that's fine, but don't make statements and take stances about things you don't understand when you're a public figure.

Right, if you know that you don't know, don't comment.

Exactly! I don’t care that she didn’t know the full extent of his crimes but to make declarative statements like that as a way to police the way people are rightfully outraged over ellen and bush while not even knowing wtf they’re mad about is absurd lol we don’t “need” to be friendly with war criminals. there’s no debate to be had.

This. Sure, maybe she had no idea about Bush and his war on terror®. Why give her uninformed opinion, then?

this is what rubs - i think its fair to not know a lot about politics when you're a teenager/young adult but i had no idea she was attacking people for calling ellen out

i only saw her tweet about her GWB research

fair isn't being used as an endorsement, it's just thinking about it realistically. teenagers are hormonal self-involved freaks who aren't really set up to have an strong understanding of current affairs and civics in a way that's really meaningful - i think schools and parents have a responsibility to inject that stuff into their day to day, but i really don't expect a 13 year old to know everything

but in a positive note i do think its shifting, i think more and more kids are becoming politically aware and that's great

i love her work on body positivity, but if she never got informed on international politics she really shouldn't be commenting on them. its that easy. i feel like a lot of celeb turned activists start to act like we want to know their opinion on everything... remeber terry crews jameela!

but honestly, this makes me side eye her a LOT... why did she jump on ellens side (with all those other powerful people) as an automatic reaction? hmm
