Seeing Judy on Saturday, though I'm strangely worried about the secondhand embarrassment factor?? I've heard she's great, so I hope it doesn't come off as an SNL impression or something. D:

I saw The Death of Dick Long the other day, and (a) A24 sprung for free popcorn AND an open bar for all of us, so hell yes queens, and (b) it's super weird and dark and...weirdly compassionate? And it's the best use of Nickelback and Creed I've ever heard. Yes, I said that.

Uhhh why is A24 disrepecting Los Angeles like this!?! Where are our screenings with free popcorn and open bars?! Anyway, that's awesome. I hadn't heard anything about that movie til I made the post!

Judy is my everything, and I want to see it... but... I read a review that prob nails how I will feel (and most everyone else will feel)... They should have dubbed Judy's singing on Renee. Renee can sing, sure... she sounds nice. But you are making a movie about Judy fucking Garland. The whole reason for Judy's fame was her voice. And if you want people to be MOVED, you gotta have a voice like Judy.

I saw Tracie Bennett in End of the Rainbow and actually thought her voice was strong enough to imitate it, but her (Judy's) voice is soooo distinct

I had a Judy day myself last Sunday! I put in my copy of Presenting Lily Mars (my personal fave, much funnier and cuter than Meet Me in St. Louis) and then used TCM On Demand to watch Summer Stock.

I do think they dubbed Judy Davis, but I haven't seen that in years. It's SUPER hard to find now, but I *think* I have an old copy. I hope they re-release it with the success of 'Judy' (if this movie is successful)

Stopppppp Presenting Lily Mars is my fav too!! Tho I guess tied with In the Good Old Summertime, and after Star and Wizard

I think I watched Me and My Shadows on some janky vimeo knock off in like 2013 so I yeah I have no idea where to find it now lol

Also I just saw this NYT op ed about Renee's Judy, I'm thinking it will be fairly successful

Netflix by mail still may have DVD copies to rent (Me and my Shadows). I do the free 30 Day by mail to rent as much as I can in that time. It's great for old hollywood flicks. I found a super rare Jean Harlow precode that way.
